Term 2 Week 8 - 13th June 2025

We have many busy bees in the classroom! We are all busy doing 1:1 and whole group assessments in Prep in preparation for school reports. It's been head down, tails up these last two weeks!

School Photos

School photos were a success and everyone looked gorgeous. Many enjoyed the whole class photo as it was taken on the playground which was lots of fun!

Literacy

We all had fun on our local excursion to Le Page Park last Thursday. We spent an hour there playing on the equipment and enjoying a different setup to our school one! Students were asked to think about how the playground looked, felt etc all in preparation for their recount writing. We are still focussing heavily on encouraging them to write independently. We are now focussing on writing recounts through letters and emails. They all are doing a wonderful job of challenging themselves in writing and remembering to use upper case letters and full stops throughout their writing.

I have included a phonics table that shows what sounds and words are taught when.

Maths:

We had fun making a giant number line on the floor. We used dice and ‘were kangaroo’ jumping to the numbers along the line.  We will also be beginning more 1:1 maths assessments in the coming weeks.

Leader In me/Buddies

For our Leadership day on Tuesday 17th June we have made a Leader in Me video talking and showing viewers what the 7 habits mean to us in Prep. Ms Hayes is currently editing it and I will send it out to you when it’s complete. From the small part I have seen it is VERY cute!

Inquiry:

We are still exploring different materials. Next Week we are going to be  conducting our own experiment about what materials are waterproof or not.
