A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LYMAN

Dear BAMS Families,

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve arrived at the last full week of school!

As we close out an incredible year, we want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. Our students have made tremendous growth, and we’re proud of the community we’ve built together.

We’d also like to share a big shout-out to the amazing families who joined us for our final Leadership Council meeting of the year. Under the guidance of our wonderful garden coordinator, Tara Gordon, parents and students pitched in to weed, plant, and beautify our school garden. It was a fun and energizing evening, and the garden looks fantastic! If you’re near the school, we encourage you to stop by and take a look.

Can You Help This Summer? To keep the garden flourishing over the summer, we’re looking for volunteers to help with watering. If you’re able to lend a hand—even for a few days—please reach out!

End-of-Year Reminders:

  • 8th Grade Move-Up Ceremony: Tuesday, June 17 at 6:00 PM. This is the final day of school for our 8th grade students.
  • 7th Grade Last Day: Wednesday, June 18 with a 12:30 PM dismissal. We’ll celebrate with a Field Day in the morning for all 7th graders!

Thank you again for a fantastic school year. We wish all of our students and families a joyful and restful summer!

Sincerely,

Keith Lyman- Principal, BAMS

With the nice weather lately, BAMS students have taken advantage of the opportunity to get out and about in the community and make new connections!

In early May, Mr. Minickiello's 7th grade skills class had the opportunity to bake for and visit St. Brigid's Kitchen in Brattleboro. They learned more about how St. Brigid plays a role in helping to feed the community.

Mid May, 7th and 8th advisories took a walking field trip to Oak Grove elementary school. Once there, advisory groups were split among elementary classrooms to read to the students. BAMS students and Oak Grove students seemed to really enjoy it, and we are excited to partake in this opportunity again in the future!

On May 1st, BUHS was the first school in southern Vermont to host TEEN LIT MOB- a program started over a decade ago to get inspired, make connections, and celebrate the power of the written word. A group of 8th grade students (and one lucky 7th grade students) had the opportunity to attend as well. We received very positive feedback and are glad to celebrate and foster a love of reading!

The final session of BEAMS is nearly over, but the students have been busy learning new skills! We have a wide array of offerings this session including things like Chinese cooking, First Aid, Ropes Course, Upcycled Crafts, and Tea Talks. We also had Fishing Club, HatchSpace, and Grill Club; which prove to be big hits.

During these BEAMS sessions, students are given the chance to try out new hobbies, learn life skills, and possibly even interact with future career options. It's a wonderful opportunity for students to be exposed to a wide array of lifestyles and interests they may not otherwise have access to.

As the final session wraps up, we are excitedly looking forward to our summer offerings in the month of July! For more information, click HERE. To register, click HERE.
