From the Head of Junior School

School sports are crucial for promoting physical health and teamwork skills among students, fostering lifelong habits of exercise and cooperation. They also provide a platform for enhancing students' self-esteem, teamwork and personal growth. Recently, at assembly, we celebrated the fabulous sporting achievements that our students have been involved in so far this year. Mr Whitehead and Ms Caro work together to ensure that all students from P-6 can participate in a variety of sporting activities. I would like to thank them both for their coordinated efforts in building the Sporting profile of the Junior School and especially the efficient running of major sporting events throughout the year.

We’ve recently celebrated Mother’s and Significant Others Day with a light breakfast and classroom visit which was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved.  These kinds of gatherings can really strengthen the sense of community and appreciation among students, parent and teacher. Photographs from the day can be found in the photo gallery on the HUB.

Every week in the Junior School we have been focusing on building our students wellbeing toolkit with strategies that they can draw on to support them through life. This week, our wellbeing focus is on the character strength of joyfulness. As part of our Junior School wellbeing focus, we are encouraging students to embrace the mindset of being grateful for the opportunities and good things in their lives.

We have an exciting week ahead with numerous activities and on the calendar, including; Year 6 academic excursion to Canberra, the Year 5 Da Vinci Decathlon team competing in the State finals at Knox Grammar School, National Simultaneous Storytime, and various sporting events. These experiences provide wonderful opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and find joy in their everyday lives.

Interschool opportunities support our students and staff in fostering relationships, collaboration and the sharing of skills. This term Kinross Wolaroi Junior School has hosted Orange Anglican School and Orange Christian School for the Stage 3 Interschools Debating challenge, coordinated by Miss Sarah Hamblin and the Stage 2 Interschools STEM challenge coordinated by Mrs Myrri Fatai. We have enjoyed welcoming students and staff from these schools for these engaging community events and look forward to continuing these partnerships in the future.

Reminder to register your attendance to Breakfast with the Principal for families with students in Year 4 and Year 5. Held from 9:00am to 10:00am at Mad Hatters Café located at 147 Lords Place, Orange.

On Thursday 19 June, the Junior School will be hosting the annual Performing Arts Evening in the DPA beginning at 5.30pm. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be performing in this fabulous showcase of talent. This is a whole-school event and a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to enjoy a variety of entertainment. Prior to our Performing Arts evening, Grand friends are invited to attend open classrooms and a light afternoon tea with their grandchildren.

Kinross Students making their Mark
