Prefects' Update

Lily Bruce and Lincoln Robinson

Dear Kinross Wolaroi Families,

It’s been a jampacked term so far with the Athletics Carnival, Boarding Week activities, the commencement of our Winter sporting fixtures, preparations for the Cadet Passing out Parade, and a variety of valuable excursions.

The athletics carnival was a fantastic display of house spirit, sportsmanship, and individual achievement with outstanding participation throughout the whole day. A highlight was definitely the U17s Boys high jump record broken by Will Kline, who cleared an impressive 1.85m. Congratulations to Brown House, the overall winners of the Carnival!

Boarding Week gave us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the strength and value of our Boarding community. Among the week’s highlights was the spirited Boarders vs Day Students relay, featuring challenges such as shoe polishing, untangling coat hangers, and buttoning up shirts. A special mention to Jane Bruce for her expert bed-making skills that helped secure the Boarders’ win! Congratulations also to the Boys' Boarding team on their narrow victory in the Charity Netball Match.

Earlier this term, Nick and I also had the opportunity to visit the NSW Parliament House and connect with other leaders from across NSW. A memorable aspect was definitely observing the heated debates within both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Chambers. We also had the chance to spend time and get to know Phillip Donato, the Member for Orange, whose unique journey - from serving in the police force to upskilling as a pastry chef - has shaped his approach to leadership. We wrapped up the day with a tour of Government House where we met Her excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley, with the highlight being Nick receiving a medallion from the Governor for his 18th Birthday.

Lastly, on Friday we enjoyed the first Prefect led Assembly of the term, where we revealed its new name: The KWS Catchup! The assembly included some intense rounds of Family Feud where Mr Willis’ team took out the win over Mr Bowman’s.

I look forward to the upcoming Senior Cadet Farewell Parade and CUO sword drill next week.

Kind Regards,

Grace Simpson
