" Every child matters. Every moment counts!"
End of Another Term
We have come to the end of another term and students, staff and parents have much to celebrate, as even though this term was 11 weeks, it was filled with much learning and activities to highlight their learning. Reading the Semester One Reports outlined the growth that each child made over the course of the six months of schooling.
Thank you to all the Parents and Carers who attended either the PSGs or Parent Teacher meetings held over the last few weeks. The progress that the students have made over this semester have been amazing. Reading the children's reflection of their growth was positive and it was reassuring that they also were proud of their achievements. Thank you to the teachers for making the reports and PLPs so personal for the children they teach.
Please take some time to celebrate your child's effort and growth in work this semester.
School Athletics' Day
What a great event even though the winds were like fans in the sky. We are thankful for the great preparation that Mr John Mitchell put into his planning for all the events and activities throughout the day. The children had a great fun taking part in the events and showing their true skills. Mrs Kathy Sansalone and Mrs Liz Martello were in control of the scoring and eagerly handed out the ribbons to the children. The families that attended enthusiastically cheered for their child and their house team.
Congratulations Padua (red team) who had the highest score and to Sienna, Xavier and Nagle for their participation and their enthusiasm throughout the day.
Congratulations to Paulina who received the Luke Bailey Courage Award
and to Charlie who received the Paul Vella School Spirit Award. Your contributions to the events were highly noted by all who attended.
Twilight School Curriculum on Parade - Wednesday 20 August
On Wednesday 20 August our school will be hosting a Twilight School session where the curriculum will be on display for all to see and take part in. You are invited to come along from 4.00pm to 6.00pm and observe the school at work. The classrooms will be open to our families and prospective parents.
Throughout the afternoon there will be a variety of lessons in all the curriculum areas so that you can see what happens in a normal day at school. We also invite you to take the time to walk around not only your child/ren's rooms but also the others so that you can observe all that takes place at school.
It is hoped that all children will attend the afternoon session and stay at school until 6.00pm. To accommodate this event normal school will not start until 11.30am for that day. The classes will be as normal from 11.30am until 3.30pm followed by a supervised break to resume again at 4.00pm until 6.00pm.
If you require your child to be at school from 8.40am they will be supervised by teachers with adequate activities until 11.30am.
Out of School Hours Care will be available in the morning as per normal times when the school staff will resume supervision.
More information will be sent out at the start of next term when you will be asked to confirm whether your child will be attending school from 8.40am or 11.30am.
I hope that everyone stays well and avoids the winter chills that are upon us at the moment and we look forward to what next term will bring to us.
Yours sincerely
Margaret Carlei
Lord, in the midst of Winter, when days are short, dawn comes late and dusk arrives early remind us that in the darkness your light still shines and the warmth of your love is upon us.
