The final results are in and we are excited to announce that our school has been declared the winner in both the mixed and female categories of the 2025 Joey School Competition! Congratulations to Goldie, Queenie, Cleo, Ollie, Harri, Gene, Ari, Loki, Harry and Mitchell on their participation and achievement! The three best times from each of the teams contributed to our overall score.
After a few false starts, on Tuesday afternoon, our Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off was held under perfect conditions. Many thanks to those parents who came along to help celebrate the tremendous efforts of our students, and to all families for your support in raising in excess of $4000 for the Heart Foundation. During the afternoon, students showcased the skills they have been developing over the last month.
Congratulations also to the 4/5 class, on winning our school a signed copy of Andy Griffiths' new book, for their entries showing what they might find down a deep, dark hole!
Wednesday was Indigenous Literacy Day. In addition to celebrating and sharing some of the wonderful selection of Indigenous books we have in our library, students in Years 3-5 also participated in a live streaming of a celebration, that was held at the Sydney Opera House.
Next Tuesday 9th September, students in Year 4-6 will travel to Tawonga to view a matinee of their annual performance. Students will travel by bus, departing at 10.30am and will return to school by 12.30pm.
As part of their enquiry units this term, students in 4/5 and Year 6 have been exploring economic concepts. Planning is now underfoot to apply this knowledge, with both classes planninng on holding market stalls. The first will be a 2nd-hand/handmade market and will be run by Year 6 on Sunday the 14th September, from 10.00am - 1pm in the undercover area.
On Wednesday 17th September, the 4/5 class will be holding 'Bizzarre, Bazaar', a stall featuring goods, handmade by students. Classes will have an opportunity to purchase items during class, or after school, when parents are also invited to grab a bargin!
In addition, on Tuesday, 16th September, students in Year 3/4 will be learning how to make pumpkin soup, which they will be selling from the canteen.
Mount Beauty Primary School are seeking CASUAL STAFF to work in the OSHC Before, After School and Vacation Care programs. Successful applicants will hold a CERT III or Diploma in School Age Education and Care or Early Childhood Education and Care, have a current Working with Children Check, First Aid and Driving License. Prep Enrolments for 2026 are now due. Kinder-aged children and their families are invited to join us every Friday afternoon, from 2.30pm, for Friday Friends- developmental play in the P-1 classroom.
These past few weeks have been incredibly tough for our community. In response to the recent incident, a collaborative group of local health organisations is offering pop-up mental health and wellbeing support in Porepunkah.
This initiative provides a safe, welcoming space for community members to connect, chat over coffee, and access a wide range of local mental health services.
