Religious Education Update

FAMILY PARISH MASS

Thank you to all the families who joined us at the Family Parish Mass over the weekend. It was great to see our school community come together in prayer and support. We appreciate your presence and look forward to future opportunities to gather as a parish and school.

YEAR SIX VISIT ST LOCAL NURSING HOME

As part of St Aidan’s outreach program, Year 6 students visited the local nursing home twice over the term. During their visit, students spent time chatting with residents, sharing stories, and playing board games together. It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect with older members of our community, show kindness, and learn through conversation. The visit was enjoyed by both students and residents, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership next  term.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN YEAR 1

Last week, Year 1 students brought the Parable of the Yeast to life through a hands on learning experience. As part of their Religious Education unit, the class made dough together and watched it rise, just like Jesus described in the parable. Students observed how a small amount of yeast can grow and change the whole mixture, helping them understand how small acts of kindness and faith can make a big difference in the world. After the dough had risen, they baked it and shared the bread, reflecting on how God's kingdom grows quietly but powerfully.

A SPECIAL VISIT

After learning about Australia’s first saint Mary MacKillop in class, Jasper and Amelia were inspired to explore her story further. This term, they visited Mary MacKillop Place in North Sydney where they spent time walking through the museum and reflecting quietly in the chapel. It was a meaningful way to connect their classroom learning with real life experience, deepening their understanding of Mary MacKillop’s faith and legacy.

Thank you to every family of St Aidan’s for supporting and being involved in Religious Education and Social Justice initiatives in Term Three. Without your donations, volunteering and help, many things would not be possible. I truly appreciate it all!

RCIA

Please find attached the booklet for School-Parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). It is a structured program that prepares candidates to be received into the Catholic Church and thereafter live as faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Sydney Catholic Schools has a diverse and growing mixture of students and parents from non-Catholic religious backgrounds. There is also a significant number of students from Catholic families entering our primary and secondary schools who have yet to receive Baptism or other sacraments of initiation. Hence, the need for an adapted parish-school RCIA program to address these needs. If you would like your child to receive the sacraments of initiation please contact the Holy Family parish office.
