MADAGASCAR MUSICAL RETELL 2025

Auditions: Cate (Gloria the Hippo)

Everyone was called to the hall in groups of four or five. One person was allowed in the hall at a time, while the others waited outside. Everyone was scared when they heard their name being called to audition. Everyone had to say this line:

Don’t trouble your humongous heads about it! Tonight, you will sleep here with us! Take Mr Alex to the comfiest patch of dirt we own! You’re going to like this. There! Luxurious dirt, isn’t it? And to make you comfy cozy, here’s a little ditty my mummy used to lullaby to me. (Singing) Go to sleepy sleep, sleepy baby. Don’t you cry, don’t you whine, or a foosa might hear you and tear out your spine! 

It was an awesome opportunity, and everyone had so much fun!

Rehearsals: Nina (Marty the Zebra)

At first we were all nervous about remembering lines, doing the right actions and of course the acting. Being the main cast in a musical was new for all of us, but in time we grew to love the rehearsals and they became fun and exciting rather than scary and nerve-racking. During rehearsals we spent more time with each other and grew to be such amazing friends. It's definitely going to be something we will never forget!

Behind the Scenes: Mailys (Melman the Giraffe) 

It was so fun in the beginning, practice was at 7:45am every Tuesday morning for two terms. First we sat in a circle and practised our lines. It took us a while to remember our lines but it was great fun because we made so many memories behind the scenes. We learned new tricks to help us remember our lines as well as learning how to act with our whole body and making effective facial expressions.

Later we moved to mic checks and whole school practices where we all practised our class dances and individual acts. Thank you to Mrs O’Kane who painted the amazing backdrop, Miss Siapkas and all the teachers and parents that helped make all the costumes and props and to Miss Hinds who not only co-ordinated the show but taught everyone the amazing dances. I had the best time and can't believe the show is over!

Show Time: Amelia (Alex the Lion)

After all of the memorable build up to the musical with all of our rehearsals, before we knew it… it was SHOW TIME! The musical performance days were SOOO exciting, yet quite nerve-racking from getting into our costumes, to doing mic checks. We got to the side stage and all of a sudden everything became real. We all shined beautifully in our own way on stage, showing our different talents. We all built news skills that will come in handy in the future.

Overall, this experience was one that I know all of us will never forget and we all really appreciate everything everyone put into making it happen. 

SUMMER UNIFORM

As the weather begins to heat up students are allowed to wear their Summer Uniform. 

All students will return in full Summer Uniform in Term 4.

P & F DISCO - SAVE THE DATE

The Term 4 Disco will be held on Friday 7 November from 5-6:30pm on the back playground (weather permitting).

REMINDERS:

SAFE TRAVEL TO AND FROM SCHOOL

In keeping with child safety and pedestrian and traffic safety:

• Students should travel the most direct route to and from school
• Students should always follow safe use of road crossings at all times
• Parents should discuss with their children management strategies to use if approached by a stranger

SAFETY AT SCHOOL DROP OFF & PICK UP

We kindly ask all parents and carers to adhere to road safety regulations during drop-off and pick-up times. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring the safety of our students and the broader school community both in the mornings and afternoons.

Please refrain from parking in, double parking or blocking driveways on Maroubra Road and nearby streets.

If you have any family members assisting you with drop off or pick up can you please share this message with them.

Our priority is to keep our students safe at all times. We thank you for your support with this.

SAVE THE DATE: GRANDPARENTS DAY

St Aidan's annual celebration for our Grandparents will be held on Tuesday 4 November. Further details will be provided closer to the date.

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff remain our top priority. With this in mind, we kindly urge you to please keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell.

If your child is experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, it is essential that they stay home until they recover. 

We understand that it can be challenging to rearrange schedules and childcare arrangements when your child is sick, but prioritising their health and the wellbeing of our school community is paramount.  

By working together we can create a safer and healthier school environment for everyone.
