Classroom Learning with 5/6T

In 5/6T, students have been reading Convict Boy by Jackie French as part of their studies on the First Fleet and the impact of colonisation on First Nations peoples. Drawing on the knowledge gained from the text, students are learning to write non-fiction texts on this topic, with a particular focus on organising information into clear paragraphs and using supporting evidence effectively. Students are particularly learning to write whole paragraphs using what’s called a ‘single paragraph outline.’ Once they've demonstrated their understanding of the structure of the text, they will publish their information reports as part of an end-of-term assessment.
