A note from Mr Jackson

Final Day for Years 1 and 2 Swimming Today

Thanks so much for the parents who have supported the swimming program over the Term. Students in the Year 1 and 2 classes enjoyed a fun finish to their lessons today at Ivanhoe Aquatic Centre. Costs and dates are being finalised for the Prep swimming program in Term 4 and will be distributed shortly. The Department of Education has prioritised this program and provides funding to cover the costs of instruction. Parent payment for the Swimming covers the cost of entry and the transport. It was great to spend time with students today at the pool!

Year 1 Dinner and Year 2 Sleepover

(Friday 5 September)

Our Year 1 students are very much looking forward to having dinner and a special magic show on Friday night, while our Year 2 students will be staying for a movie and a sleepover. This unique adventure for our students is part of the Rosanna Primary Camping Program. It is carefully stepped out as they move through their primary experience and will see them on a two night camp in 3/4 every second year and then yearly at an Adventure Camp in Years 5 and 6. The evening promotes personal growth and social-emotional development, while helping students build confidence, resilience and independence. Thanks to volunteers and staff who will ensure the evening is a fun and enjoyable experience for all.

Working Bee Invitation

(Saturday 6 September)

All are invited to attend our working Bee this Saturday morning from 9:00am til 12 noon. Bring along a wheelbarrow if you have one, sturdy shoes, as well as a hat to help out. Make sure you sign in at the staff room and learn a little about the adventures for the day. We’ll be finishing the undercoat for the cubby house (weather permitting), painting zigzag lines, blowing the yard, clearing gutters and possibly moving some mulch. These are some simple actions but allow us to keep our site neat and tidy. We’ll celebrate our achievements with lunch with some hot sausages in bread!

Life Education

(Mon 8 September to Thur 17 September)

Classes will be visiting with the Life Education team over the coming fortnight. Yesterday, consent and payment notes were forwarded to families. Payment can be made through Qkr! and consents returned to classroom teachers. Students in different areas will explore a range of topics from cybersafety to friendships.

Footy Frenzy Day

(Wednesday 17 August)

Don’t forget to put aside your football / netball / basketball / chess outfits as we celebrate Footy Frenzy Day in the last week of term. The day celebrates an active lifestyle and the importance of sport (yes, chess is classified as a sport!) in our lives. Students are invited to wear their sports teams colours on the day and they will have the opportunity to parade their colours to the world. A special sausage sizzle will be held to contribute to the costs of the canteen, forms went home this week.

5/6 Campers Return Exhausted but Happy

(Wednesday 27 August to Friday 29 August)

Friday afternoon saw students return after three days at Camp Alexandra Adventure Resort. Although rains were forecast, the sun shone at important moments and enabled students to zip along the flying fox, balance across the high ropes course, participate in laser tag and archery, as well as enjoy the orienteering. There were moments when the drizzling rain set in but students did not allow it to dampen their spirits or deny them of the fun to be had. Thanks again, to our volunteers and staff who spent time away at camp.

Playgrounds Upgrade

(Thursday 4 September)

Today we have playground specialists upgrading some of our structured playgrounds to ensure they are safe for our energetic cohort. We will be providing post pads to prevent knocks, as well as restructure some of the components on the upper and lower playgrounds. Have a look and see if you can see the difference!

Hats On Reminder

A reminder that students are encouraged to wear the school broad brimmed hats. From September to April, especially between 10:00am and 2:00pm (recess and lunch), sun protection is necessary for all outdoor activities.  Students without hats are encouraged to sit underneath the shady tree during play periods. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide ‘spare hats’ for health reasons. Some students choose to have a small bottle of sunscreen clipped to their bag. Teachers will continue to prompt students at recess and lunch to apply sunscreen if they have brought it to school.
