Grade 3-6:

End of Term 3, 2025 Newsletter – Week 9

As we come to the end of Term 3, we would like to reflect on the exciting learning and experiences our students have been involved in. It has been a very rewarding term, and the students should feel proud of all they have achieved.

What's been happening in the Senior Module this Term:

This term, the Grade 3/4A class has been deeply engaged in reading The Iron Man. Students explored the themes of bravery, friendship and problem solving, while also practising their comprehension and creative responses to the text. The story sparked wonderful class discussions and inspired some very imaginative writing pieces.

The Grade 4/5A class has been captivated by The Wild Robot. Students have enjoyed following Roz’s journey and reflecting on the important messages about resilience, kindness and the connection between humans, animals and the environment. The class also thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie during class time as a reward.

The Grade 5/6A class has been studying Tom Appleby Convict Boy. Through this text, students have gained a greater understanding of Australian history and the experiences of early convicts. The novel has encouraged empathy and critical thinking as students connected historical events to broader themes of resilience, survival and hope.

Whole School Highlights

Alongside their classroom learning, students have participated in a wide range of special activities this term:

  • School House Athletics Carnival – Students showed determination, teamwork and house spirit both on the track and the field.
  • Book Week Parade – A colourful and creative celebration of favourite characters and stories.
  • Shrine of Remembrance Excursion – A valuable opportunity to reflect on Australia’s history and the importance of remembrance.
  • Author Visits – Sarah Barnett and Alison Holt inspired students with their writing journeys and creative ideas.
  • Footy Fun Day Lunch – A celebration of footy season with food and AFL activities.
  • District Athletics – Congratulations to all students who represented our school with great effort and enthusiasm.
  • Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast – A special morning where families gathered to celebrate dads and father figures.
  • What A Knight – 2:00pm performance and the 6:30pm performance.
