School Captains' Message

Dear COHR Community,

What a year it's been so far! We've had excursions and fundraisers, camps and reflection days, and we're so excited to continue this in Term 4. Here are just some of the exciting things we will be doing this term. We hope you enjoy celebrating all that this year has brought!

To start Term 4, we are excited to strengthen our bond with Sacred Heart Primary School by having our Combined Schools Day on Monday, the 20th of October. Both schools will participate in various activities together, helping us get to know each other and build new and valuable friendships. This day is a vital part of the connection between COHR and Sacred Heart, uniting us as one parish.

We are also looking forward to the 22nd of October, when our Colour Run will take place. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up and is helping fundraise for our amazing school. The money raised will go towards new additions to our school that will greatly enhance our learning. The Colour Run will run from 2:00 to 3:20 pm. We ask everyone to wear a white t-shirt. Each class will then run through an obstacle course where they will get wet and squirted with colourful powder. The Colour Run is always a highlight of the year, and we look forward to having fun while helping our school become even better.

Being a Catholic school, we celebrate our faith through Feast Days. Here at COHR, our Feast Day will be held on the 21st of November, the Friday before the Feast of Christ the King. We would love for families to join us at our whole school Mass, where we come together to share in our faith. We also invite parents and families to COHR’s Got Talent, where students are encouraged to perform and showcase their unique talents. After school, we invite you to join us for our COHR movie night, a time to come together and enjoy a shared film.

To get into the festive spirit, COHR will also celebrate the season with our annual Carol Concert. Each class, along with the school choir, will perform a carol. We invite parents and family members to share in this celebration of the joy of Christmas time.

As our Year Five students transition into Year Six, we will hold our leadership program. The Year Fives will prepare a speech outlining why they would be the best candidate to lead our school in the coming year. Good luck to all our Year Five candidates! The students will also participate in two interactive Zoom sessions with qualified Kids Helpline specialists, learning important skills and qualities that will help them in the future. With additional incursions on public speaking for Years 5 and 6, they will develop valuable leadership and communication skills.

As we approach the end of the year, we all look forward to the summer holidays, but it is also a significant milestone for our Year Six students, the end of primary school. To celebrate the conclusion of their primary school journey, the Year Sixes will take part in a number of graduation celebrations. On Thursday, the 11th of December, we will hold the Year Six Graduation Ceremony and Mass. Additionally, the Year Sixes will create a yearbook filled with highlights and memories from their time at COHR. On Monday, the 15th of December, there will be the Year Six Fun Day, a chance for them to spend time together as a group before embarking on their high school journey. On the final Friday of the school year, we will also hold a Graduation Assembly, looking back on the school journey of the Year Six students.

We hope you are all excited for the busy and exciting term ahead. We wish all members of the COHR community a fantastic end to the year.

Amelia and Jordan
