Students have been exploring Indigenous stories and artwork. 'How the Lizard got its Blue Tongue' inspired the students to create their own blue tongue lizards. Students have used a variety of ways to apply paint and use line and pattern to create their Indigenous inspired lizards and backgrounds.
Grades 1 and 2
Students created a bowl of spring flowers. Students created the flowers by tearing pieces of paper into a circle shape. Three circle shapes were needed to create one flower. Stems and leaves were added. You may even be able to spot an insect or two.
Grades 3 and 4
Students have been exploring textiles by using macrame.
Students completed a simple macrame person using a wooden bead as a head. The macrame person was attached to a piece of paper and a background was drawn around the person.
Grades 5 and 6
Students have been looking at the Ned Kelly series of paintings by Sidney Nolan.
The artwork 'Ned Kelly' painted in 1946 has been the focus of the art lessons. Students discussed the importance of the subject of the painting. Students were inspired by the work of Sidney Nolan to create their own Ned Kelly artwork.
