Yesterday we enjoyed our second Mob time for the term. All our students are in multi-age groups and decide what they would like to do during the hour they are together. Sometimes they choose to do something as a group, sometimes they choose their own activities to do.

I had a lovely conversation with the group I was with yesterday about why we have Mob time-

"We might learn new things about each other, or learn new facts."

"We might get new friends who are not in the same class."

"We can do something different and learn new things."

"We can come together and celebrate our differences."

Exactly! They get it!

Mob time is about building connections and community, which, in turn, is helping us achieve our school vision-

NAIDOC Week "50 years of Deadly".

NAIDOC Week is held each year in the first week of July. NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the culture, history and acheivements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. During NAIDOC Week, we all have an opportunity to learn more about First Nations history, to connect with our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by attending activities and events held over the week.

Next Monday afternoon, all our classrooms will be recognising and celebrating NAIDOC Week. "50 years of Deadly" is a tribute to the many people who proudly built the movement to celebrate indigenous voices and kept showing up day after day and year after year.

I hope you are all able to connect with some NAIDOC week activities and to learn more about First Nations culture and history.

BDAC is hosting a NAIDOC Week Family Day on 8th July, the information is below.

Student supervision at our school.

Student safety at Bendigo Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised 8:30am to 8:45am.

After school: School grounds are supervised 3:10-3:25pm.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice) and/or are under the supervision of a parent/carer/suitable adult.

Families are encouraged to contact our OSHC service by phone 0477477652  or email- bendigovioletstoshc@ymca.org.au  for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.

You can access a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy here. This policy includes Bendigo Primary's student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
