YEAR 3

FROM THE CLASSROOM

Welcome back to Term 3! This week, we have been focusing on getting familiar with our classroom routines and sharing about what we have gotten up to on the holidays! Students have continued to settle in and show their confidence in their classroom’s low variance routines to prepare and assist them with their learning. Our main classroom focuses and during circle time were around how to help-seek when issues or challenges arise.

Next Wednesday (22nd of July) is our Student-Led Conference night where your child will discuss and share their reflection of their learning to you. Students are working very hard on preparing and practising their reflections in front of their peers!

This week in Reading, the Year 3 classes have continued to explore celebrations from different cultures. Students learnt about the two types of Eid, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, and investigated their speed bumps and created the relevant main idea and summary. It has been lovely to see students excited to learn about celebrations from around and we look forward to their increased excitement as the term progresses.

Students have begun to use a variety of strategies to solve three-digit addition problems within Maths and have begun to use reasoning to justify and explain their answers.

During Writing, students have learnt about their new informative text, 'Cactus Fish' and have begun to complete their own text map, alongside a class text map.

Please see some amazing text maps made by students in 3CD below!
