YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM
Welcome back to Term 3! The students have returned to school this week with much enthusiasm and excitement. They have settled back into school routines very well and we are extremely proud of their efforts.
In Reading, students have been building their vocabulary and background knowledge of possums, in order to help them understand the story of ‘Possum Magic’.
In Writing, students have learnt our new Talk 4 Write text – 'The Story of Pirate Tom'. This is a narrative that follows the adventure of a pirate named Tom, while he searches for treasure.
In Mathematics, students have been exploring Australian Money. We have learnt about all the different coins and notes, as well as practiced adding them up. Students have worked on worded questions involving money and have enjoyed using physical materials to help them solve these problems.
During Inquiry, students were introduced to our new Inquiry topic – 'Wild Australia'. This term we will be learning about Australian states and territories, habitats, animals, and ecosystems. Students had the opportunity to explore a First Nations kit from the museum and learn more about Australia’s Indigenous History.
In Wellbeing, students have practiced the school expectations and begun to set themselves up for a new semester. We have continued to focus on respect as part of our school wide practice.
Students also enjoyed attending the Smoking Ceremony on Tuesday afternoon and were very excited to discuss it.

REMINDERS
MORNING ARRIVAL TIMES
A big thank you to our families for supporting students to arrive at school on time.
We have noticed a wonderful improvement in punctuality, which has helped create a calm and settled start to the day with fewer interruptions to learning.
As a reminder, students should be in their classroom and ready to learn by 8:35 am each morning.
