From the Prefects...

Dear Families and Friends of Kinross Wolaroi,

An action-packed holidays has flown by and we are already rugged up and into the swing of term two.

Winter sports have kicked off, and athletes have hit the ground running in all sports. An intensive rugby camp in the last week of the break laid the foundations for a successful season, with preseason matches against Shore School in Mudgee providing a solid base to work from as we approach the first ISA fixtures. This week the boys line up against Trinity Grammar at home, whilst the girls await news of their first fixtures.

An action-packed tour of Sri Lanka during the holidays has all cylinders firing for the netball season beginning this Saturday. The tour provided a variety of exciting cultural and sightseeing experiences, as well as several tight games of netball played both on courts and grass – and interesting change. The tour also served as fitting end to a successful cricket season here in Australia, with the team winning several fixture against tough Sri Lankan sides.

Also during the break was the history tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. The trip saw students escape the rapidly cooling weather to not only see the sights of south-east Asia, but contribute to needing communities. Together, the group worked to help install a washroom and toilets for several very grateful families within a village.

Last week, was an action-packed week, and students got straight back into it. On Thursday, our annual house athletics carnival saw record participation, and some of the best house spirit witnessed in several years. The first annual house chant competition was a particular success, and in year to come will only grow. Records were set in several events and athletes now turn to preparing for representative level competition.

Also last week were a variety of fundraisers. Along with house bake sales and sausage sizzles raising money for house charities, the Prefect team also hosted a mufti day and “Splash the Senior” to raise money for a new school mural. We both certainly underestimated the sting of water balloons hurled by motivated peers.

Looking forward to the term ahead,

Regards,
Angus & Ivy
