At Dundas Public School we do our best always

It has been a fantastic start to the term, with a strong sense of energy, pride and connection evident across our school. A huge thank you to our incredible P&C for their amazing work last term. The cake stall was a wonderful success and, as always, so well supported by our community. We are also very grateful for the time and effort that has gone into preparing the Mother’s Day stall, these opportunities bring so much joy to our students and families.
It has been wonderful to see our students and staff thriving in our new classrooms. The spaces are already making a positive impact, supporting high-quality learning, collaboration and engagement across all year levels.
Harmony Day was another highlight, with students demonstrating respect, inclusivity and a genuine appreciation for the diversity within our school. The thoughtful contributions, conversations and learning experiences across the day were something to be very proud of.

Staff recently engaged in a dedicated School Development Day focused on disability, neurodiversity and inclusive education. This professional learning strengthens our shared capacity to support every student to engage meaningfully in learning, with teaching approaches and environments designed to meet a wide range of needs.
Thank you to our entire school community for the continued support, it has been a positive and productive beginning, and we are excited for what lies ahead.
Finally, I would like to wish all our mums, grandmothers, carers and special women in our community a very happy Mother’s Day for Sunday. Thank you for the love, care and support you provide each and every day to our students and families.

Our P&C plays an incredibly important role in supporting our school, and we are so grateful for the time, energy and commitment of our amazing parent volunteers. Their work behind the scenes and at events like the cake stall, School fate and Mother’s Day stall has a meaningful impact on our students and school community.
We encourage all families to get involved by attending P&C meetings. It’s a great opportunity to contribute ideas, be part of planning, and support initiatives that directly benefit our school. Every voice is valued, and even small contributions can make a big difference.
We are truly thankful for the ongoing support of our P&C and the strong sense of community they help to foster.

We are incredibly proud to share that Dundas Public School was recently recognised in Parliament through a Community Recognition Statement in Hansard (24 March 2026).
The statement acknowledged our school’s Morning Tea for Newly Arrived Families, highlighting the care, hospitality and strong sense of community that defines Dundas. It recognised the meaningful way our school welcomes families who are new to Australia and supports them as they settle into a new environment.
A special mention was given to our dedicated staff, including Ms Lilyrose, Mrs Upton, Ms Lulu and Ms Stranges, for their work in supporting students and families, particularly through English language support and wellbeing initiatives.
This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our staff and community in ensuring that Dundas Public School is not just a place of education, but a place where every family feels welcomed, supported and connected.
We are very proud of this acknowledgement and thank our staff and community for the role they play in making our school such a special place. Please see the full statement below.
Ms DONNA DAVIS (Parramatta)—Thank you to the Dundas Public School community for your amazing hospitality, care and sense of community. Dundas Public School recently hosted a morning tea for newly arrived families. As anyone would know who has made the journey to live in Australia, or any country, from overseas, there are many challenges to starting over in a new country where the language, customs and culture are completely different. It can be an isolating, difficult and incredibly challenging experience. In typical Dundas fashion, Dundas Public School has responded to the new members of their school community with care and compassion. The school had the pleasure of hosting a morning tea for newly arrived families which included those who are new to the country and to the school community. A special mention must be made to staff Ms Lilyrose and Mrs Upton who were sharing how they support students in their English language. Mrs Luu and Ms Stranges, who are part of the Wellbeing team, were also present to meet and greet parents. Thank you Dundas Public School for working to ensure you are not just a place of education, but a school community.
Riding bikes and scooters to and from school is a great, healthy way for students to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
As more students take advantage of this, we’d like to remind everyone about the importance of road and bike safety. Students must always wear a helmet when riding, this is not only the law in New South Wales, but an essential step in keeping our children safe. We also ask students to be mindful of driveways, pedestrians and traffic, particularly during busy pick-up times when visibility can be limited.
We encourage families to have a conversation at home about riding safely, staying aware of surroundings, and riding at an appropriate speed. For younger riders, adult supervision or riding together can help reinforce safe habits. Please use the below links to support your conversations.

We are proud to share the continued growth of our Aboriginal student group, now known as the Wadangali Mob. Our students work closely with Patrick Pumpa, our Aboriginal and Community Liaison Officer, who joins us three times each term to support learning, connection and cultural identity.
These sessions are shaped by student voice, with a focus on exploring topics of interest, deepening cultural knowledge and further developing individual strengths and talents.
Late last term, students came together to brainstorm ideas for their group and proudly chose the name Wadangali Mob. Wadangali, meaning wattle tree in the Dharug language, reflects our school emblem and symbolises strength, growth and connection.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their leadership and engagement, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of the Wadangali Mob across our school.
