Year 11 Outdoor & Environmental Studies hike to the Catedral Ranges

At the end of Term 1, the year 11 Outdoor & Environmental Studies class ventured out to the Cathedral ranges for a 3-day base camp. We were spoilt with blue skies and mild nights while sleeping under the stars.

Students developed their navigation skills, deepened their understanding of Leave No Trace principles, and built a stronger connection with the natural environment as well as each other.

All students discovered joy through challenge, while supporting one another hiking up Mount Sugarloaf and sliding through Wells Cave. We were challenged by elements out of our control including a thunderstorm! It was extraordinary to see students demonstrate resilience, teamwork, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones throughout all challenges, making the experience both rewarding and memorable for all involved.

The friendly native wildlife was a highlight of the trip, particularly for those who were better at spotting it than others! 😊

We can’t wait for our next adventure together and keep classroom culture as strong as ever!
