Kitchen Garden

What an exciting few weeks it has been in our school garden! With all the recent rain, a little sunshine and some warmer days, our garden beds are bursting back to life. The sweet peas, zinnias, apple blossoms and nasturtiums are all showing off their colours. It is like a rainbow has landed in our garden!

We have been busy planting corn, beans, tomatoes and eggplant, and we will soon be adding cucumber, pumpkin and basil seedlings to the mix. Over the next few weeks, we will also start harvesting our potatoes, beetroot, broad beans and carrots. Yum! Our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students will be turning this fresh produce into delicious potato gnocchi, homemade focaccia and tasty dips, proving that simple, fresh ingredients can make amazing food for everyone to enjoy.

From now until the end of the year, our Garden Club will have their hands full caring for all our new seedlings. It has been wonderful to see how much pride our students take in what we plant and grow together. Every day, you can spot students wandering through the garden, chatting about what they see and recognising new growth. It really does feel like a magical place!
