PBL - Kind Words and Actions

At our school, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued. As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) approach, we are focusing on the importance of kind words and actions in the classroom, playground, and beyond.

Students are learning how small acts of kindness, like helping a friend, using polite language, and including others, can make a big difference in someone’s day. Through class discussions, role plays, and recognition systems, we are encouraging students to think about how they treat others and how they can contribute to a positive school culture.

Families can support this focus at home by talking about kindness, modelling respectful behaviour, and celebrating thoughtful choices. Together, we can help our children grow into caring, confident, and respectful individuals.

Habit 8: Find your Voice

Encourages students to discover what makes them unique and use their strengths to make a positive difference. At school, this means helping students recognise their talents, passions, and ideas, and giving them opportunities to share them confidently and respectfully.

Finding your voice isn’t just about speaking up, it’s about knowing who you are, what you care about, and how you can contribute to your class, school, and community. Whether it’s through art, writing, helping others, or being a good friend, every student has something special to offer.

In class, we’re encouraging students to use kind words, listen to others, and take part in activities that help them express themselves. We’re also celebrating moments when students show leadership by standing up for what’s right, helping a peer, or sharing a great idea.

Families can support Habit 8 at home by talking about what makes their child special and encouraging them to speak confidently and kindly. Together, we’re helping students grow into thoughtful, courageous, and respectful leaders.

Year 5 School Leader Speeches – 2026 Leadership Opportunity

This Thursday, a group of our enthusiastic Year 5 students had the exciting opportunity to present their speeches as candidates for School Leader in 2026. Each student delivered a thoughtful and passionate speech, showcasing their leadership potential, school spirit, and commitment to making a positive impact.

The quality of the speeches was outstanding, and it’s clear that every candidate put in a great deal of effort and heart. It will certainly be a challenge for Mrs Dinale to narrow the field down to just a few finalists! The whole school is buzzing with anticipation, eager to see who will be selected to represent our student community next year.

While we would love to see all candidates take on the role, only a few can be chosen. Regardless of the outcome, every student who participated should be incredibly proud of their courage, preparation, and the way they represented themselves and their peers. We look forward to seeing how the selected leaders will continue to inspire and lead our school community in 2026.

Word of the Week

Meaning: Courage means being brave doing something even when you feel scared or nervous, because you know it’s the right thing to do. Just like how our candidates running for school leader used courage to get up and speak to us about how they will make a great future school leader.

How Can We Show Courage At School

  • Trying something new — like speaking in front of the class or joining a new club, even if you feel shy.
  • Standing up for others — telling a teacher if someone is being treated unfairly.
  • Admitting a mistake — saying sorry or telling the truth, even when it’s hard.
