KINDERGARTEN KOALAS NEWS

How is it that we are halfway through Term 4 already?!  Kindergarten are almost finished their first year of school and we are so proud of them!  This term has been a busy one and we have been having lots of fun with our learning.

This term, our Kindergarten class has been on a learning journey inspired by the book Who Sank the Boat? By weaving together English, Maths, and Art, students have been engaging with the story in many exciting ways.

In English, students have been practising their writing skills by crafting simple sentences about the story and its characters. This has helped build their confidence in sentence structure and vocabulary!

In Maths, we have been exploring the concept of mass. Using the story’s theme of different animals getting into a boat, students have been comparing weights and understanding how mass affects balance and sinking.

Our Art sessions have brought the story to life visually. Students have created colourful artworks inspired by the animals and the boat, expressing their understanding of the story through drawing and crafting.

Our Kindergarten students have been engaging in a Personal Development, Health (PDH) unit focused on resilience. As part of their learning, they created a colourful class resilience tree displayed outside our classroom, symbolising the strength and growth that comes from overcoming challenges. Through class discussions and activities, the children have identified people and places they can turn to for support when facing difficulties. They have also explored inspiring stories of individuals who have demonstrated great resilience in their lives, helping students understand the importance of perseverance and a positive mindset.

As part of PAX, students have been collecting points on our class ‘Paxometre’. When we reach 50 points, we get to go to our secret area!  Students can earn points by being organised, persistent, confident and resilient.  Here are some photos of us having fun in our special place.
