Student Voice

Student Voice :                         Heights  Campus

It is hard to believe we are already up to Week 4 in the final term of 2025! We have had a lot of windy and wet weather this term which means we have had to stay inside at recess and lunch! Some children really enjoy this, while others miss the chance to run around and play sport.

The students from 3-6 used their student voice to select some new games to play when it was an extreme weather timetable.

Students in the SLC did some research and found out the price of games. Then the MLC have then been using this data to practise their multiplication and addition skills to work out how many games we could purchase given a specific budget to spend.

Life Saving Victoria - CPR

Last week we learnt about how to save people when they’re in danger (keeping them alive until an ambulance comes). The method we have learnt is called  DRSABCD, including how to do CPR, look for danger, how to seek help amongst other steps. This experience was interesting as we learnt new skills that can save others. It feels like you’re a medic or doctor, How would it feel if you had to save someone’s life?

Sporting achievements: Basketball - Last week on Thursday the Girls basketball team from HC made it to the regional finals placing second. They versed two other districts- playing against Sirius College and Rosewood Downs. Both of the games were very close and we are so proud of how well they all played together.

Both Softball and Volleyball stars from Springvale Campus also made it to District Finals. Softball placing first and Volleystars placing second. Unfortunately Softball could not go to regional finals because then they would be playing baseball instead of Softball. We are so proud of both of the teams that made it to district finals. Both of them showing resilience and collaboration.

Last week on Friday, 4 students from both campuses went to Athletics Regional Finals at Casey Fields. The students that raced on Friday were Ruby, Kadance and Thomas all from Heights Campus and Jamil from Springvale Campus. We are very proud of them for making it to Regional finals, but unfortunately no one made it to State.

On Saturday Kadance from 5/6B, also swam at the National Swimming Championships in Ballarat. She was in the 100m backstroke race coming in 5th - beating her own record time (a new Personal Best time). On Tuesday she raced in the 50m Backstroke which she swam very fast, and in the Individual Medley Relay where she came FIRST!  Then on Wednesday she competed in the freestyle relay and mixed relay. We are so proud of Kadance and wish her good luck on her future swimming career. The students on HC created a card to wish Kadance good luck with her swimming.

Last week on Thursday, our school attended the City of Greater Dandenong's Children’s Forum event, where students shared their preferences as to what would make our library even better (adding buildings, playgrounds etc.) This event had snack and lunch provided, sport activities and four workshops.  The Children’s Forum overall was so much fun due to the many activities. There were so many fun activities including: learning about African Culture and playing music on the drums, and engaging in Indigenous culture and learning how music reflects our Earth and animals.

And lastly, do you know what SWPBS stands for? Well it is… School Wide Positive Behaviour Support. This is our new system that supports our school values and encourages all students to work towards earning tokens when they demonstrate our values!

Last Friday, students with twenty (20) tokens had the chance to do a cooking class with Ms Lu and Mrs Stubbings. This time we made healthy but delicious apricot Balls. This class teaches us how to use materials in the kitchen and how to follow recipes. This cooking class is fun because we explore new meals, are able to enjoy the meal at the end, and we are able to learn new skills.
