We are thrilled to announce the return of the annual South Australian German Teachers' Association (SAGTA) Poster Competition! This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get creative while exploring German language and culture. We have a proud history of success at LNPS, consistently celebrating student winners and highly commended entries in this competition over many years!
This year, the competition focuses on two beautiful German-speaking countries: Switzerland (die Schweiz) and Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein). giving students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of a different German-speaking culture and its geography.
Students from Year 1-6 will hear about the competition during their German lessons and spend time learning vocabulary to support creating posters based on the specific criteria for their category.
● R-2 Category: The Legend of William Tell: Students are learning all about this very famous Swiss story. Ask your children to retell the story for you, or look it up as a family - it is quite unusual! They will also learn about the famous William Tell Overture.
● 3-5 Category: Famous places & German descriptions: Students will select a famous place in Switzerland or Liechtenstein to draw and support their illustration with simple German sentences to describe the place and its features.
● 6-7 Category: German Poetry: The Elfchen Students will combine art and language and learn to write an Elfchen, a short, five-line German poem (with the specific number of words per line - 1-2-3-4-1).

Winning entries and those receiving special commendations will be proudly displayed for German teachers across South Australia to see at their annual conference next May. Students also have the chance to win exciting prize vouchers!
We encourage all students to create a poster. However, as a school, we are limited to submitting three (3) posters in each category (R-2, 3-5, and 6/7).
A decision will be made by students and staff to select the three submissions per category. Parents of the chosen entrants will then be contacted to provide final permission for their child's work to be submitted to SAGTA.
We will celebrate other posters within our school community.
