Year 10 News

Over the next few weeks, all Year 10 students will be researching and choosing their courses for Year 11 2026. Students will be attending a Subject Information Day at the Uni Campus on August 13th. There will be a Parent Information Evening at the Uni Campus on August 6th, followed by Course Counselling Appointments for all Morwell Year 10 students on Wednesday August 20th in the Orange building. Please check the dates below.

Year 10 Camp

This year our Year 10 students will be going to Tasmania in the second last week of term three (September 8th to 12th. Information is out on Compass. There are 26 Morwell students signed up for the camp to Tasmania.

Senior Pathways

We are currently arranging the transition process for our Year 10 students going to Year 11 at the end of November.

Recently, all Year 10 students attended the Job Skills Expo at Lardner Park in Warragul, where they got the opportunity to wander around a number of displays and speak to people in a variety of industries. There were also several seminars and panel discussions on offer for students to attend and gain more knowledge and information about possible industries and jobs they might like to pursue.

Last week students talks from the VCE-VCE and the VCE-VM Leaders took place.

Students can choose between VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) and the new VCE VM (Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major), which replaces the previous VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) program. There are some differences between the two programs, and this was explained to students.

Senior Pathways Information Evening

A parent information evening and University Campus tour occurred on Wednesday, 6th August. If you were unable to attend and have any questions or would like a campus tour, please contact the Uni Campus directly on 5165 0600 - option 4 to arrange.

Subject Information Day – All Year 10 Students

Wednesday 13th August: Attendance is compulsory for all Year 10 students (unless an approved absence is in place). Students will learn about subject options for Year 11 and important course selection details.

Course Counselling – Morwell Campus

Wednesday 20th August | 1:30pm – 6:15pm in Orange Building: A parent or carer must attend this important course counselling session with their Year 10 student.

Bookings Now Open: Students can now book a preferred time slot via the Orange Building. Bookings are filling fast. If no booking is made, a time will be allocated. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.

PBS

Students can receive a KPA SMS message to parents from teachers each lesson for positive behaviour. Students are also receiving postcards for displaying consistent behaviours for the four school pillars of Excellence, Relationships, Work Ethic and Engagement. This year we will be rewarding students with great attendance to school and for LBU reports at or above 3.5 as well as growth reports. The last LBU reports had 18 students receive a 4.0 result. Congratulations to all of those students who had great Semester One reports. We are also now running a KPA shop where students can buy items if they have enough points.

Students need to be at school by 8:35 am.
