Campus Principal
We’ve kicked off Semester 2 on a very positive note, and welcome Monir El Ghzal to our staff from the UK. Also, Hayden May, who is a Kurnai College alumni and a well known face around the campus has also been employed full time. Monir is a passionate Humanities teacher. He is replacing Stacey Miller, who finished up at Kurnai at the end of Semester 2 to take on a position in Sale. Hayden is currently filling in for Khatt Sims while she takes some leave, and then will take on Humanities and English classes for the remainder of the year. We are pleased to have both join our team and look forward to their ongoing contribution.
AWESOME NAPLAN RESULTS
We already had some initial understanding that our NAPLAN Growth Results were really positive, but I was amazed when the NAPLAN growth certificates arrived recently. NAPLAN results have gone out in the mail and families will receive them soon (along with the certificates if your child made high growth). We look forward to drilling down into the results as a Campus and College to see how we can make further improvements to our education program to increase the outcomes of our students.
We are making great strides forwards in improving attendance as a Campus while we continue our focus on lateness. We are seeing a positive engagement in the classroom with all students arriving to class on time. Students are aware that they are required to make up time for lateness – minute for minute – to encourage them to be organised and be at their classrooms when required. This is great life preparation but also improves the classroom outcomes, with less classroom disruption being the result.
KURNAI IS THE SCHOOL OF CHOICE
We have seen a great influx of enrolments in Semester 2 with extraordinary numbers of parents choosing to come to us for their child’s education. Some have moved into the area, but many are making the choice to move from local schools to take advantage of the positive opportunities that we have and the strong focus that we have on education the ‘whole’ child. We are pleased that we can offer a great education. If something is out of place though, be sure to contact us to ensure that we can make a difference and improve your child’s experience of school.
