This term, we farewell Leonie, who is retiring after an extraordinary 32 years of service to our school.
Throughout her time here, Leonie has worked with countless children to support their learning, kept our library thriving and full of life, and shared her love of books with generations of students. She has also been our much loved resident photographer, capturing so many of the special memories that make up our school story.
Leonie’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication have touched the lives of students, staff, and families alike.
We invite all families to join us at our Assembly on Friday, 19th of September, as we celebrate Leonie’s remarkable contribution.
Leonie, we thank you for everything you have given. You will be deeply missed, and we wish you every happiness and blessing in your well-earned retirement.
This week, we will be celebrating Children's Book Week. This year's celebration marks the 80th anniversary of the event, which is organised by The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The theme for 2025 is "Book an Adventure!" and encourages students to explore new stories and enjoy rich, meaningful experiences with literature. During the week, we have many activities planned.
On Friday, students are invited to come dressed as a book character for our Book Week Parade, which will be held in the hall. Families are invited to attend.
As we are still very much in flu season, we ask for your continued support in promoting good hygiene practices at home. Regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and keeping children at home when unwell are important in preventing the spread of illness.
We also remind families to check their child’s hair regularly for head lice and to treat promptly if necessary. By working together, we can ensure a healthy and hygienic environment for all students.
The key enrolment dates for students in Year 5 in 2026 who will be starting Year 7 in 2028 were agreed after approval from the Archdiocesan Enrolment Committee. These dates do not apply to the five colleges in the Geelong area, which operate on a local enrolment policy. The timeline of events and dates is as follows:
As previously mentioned in our newsletter, Friday, September 5th, will be a School Closure Day.
Have a lovely week
Manuela
