ST VINCENT DE PAUL SANDWICH MAKING

Last week we continued our outreach in the making of sandwiches for the St Vincent De Paul Society. We made 247 sandwiches that were delivered to St Vincent de Paul and given out on the Lexio Maroubra Vinnies van, using the money raised for our Dollar for a Dinner.

A big thank you to all those who assisted in the making of the sandwiches.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN YEAR 1

Year 1 students have been learning about the different parts of the Mass through a range of creative activities. They used playdough and lego to model key symbols, watercolours and oil pastels to illustrate moments of prayer and celebration, and journaling to reflect on what each part means. These hands-on tasks helped them understand the structure and significance of the Mass in a meaningful and engaging way.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION RETREAT DAY

To help the students prepare for their upcoming sacrament the Year 3 students and other students receiving their First Holy Communion, will engage in a retreat day on Wednesday the 27th of August.

The students will engage in many reflective activities, reconciliation and adoration on this day. We invite the parents to join us from 8:50 am until 9:50 am for Religious Storytelling and activities in the Year 3 Classroom.

FEAST OF MARY OF THE CROSS MACKILLOP

Thank you to Miss Siapkas and Year Three for leading our community for Mass to acknowledge the Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop. This feast is held on the 8 August in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She was the first Saint of Australia, and her influence has spread far and wide. She is recognised for her commitment to the poor, helping those who needed it the most in any way she could.

ST AIDAN'S PRAYER BEAR

Aidan the Prayer Bear has been busy visiting the homes of St Aidan’s students, sharing in their family prayer time and bringing a sense of calm and connection. From quiet bedtime prayers to moments of gratitude around the dinner table, Aidan has joined in many special routines, helping students reflect on their faith beyond the classroom. His travels have made prayer a warm and familiar part of everyday life.

Aidan the Prayer Bear is sent home with a journal and a set of instructions and needs to be returned each week to pass on to a new family. We also ask you send an email the school office with a photo of you praying with the Prayer Bear and include in prayers enjoyed most. You may be included newsletter.

MISSION DAY & FATHER'S DAY

On Friday 5th September St Aidan's will hold their annual Mission Day Celebration. We will begin the day with a Father's Day breakfast starting at 7:30am on the front playground. Father's and carers will then be invited into our classrooms to join in planned activities with our students. As part of our standing tradition, students are invited to wear a sporting jersey of their choice for the day.

Mission Day consists of Year 6 running games and activities, selling items and delicious food that are donated to the school with money raised going to the CWF (Charitable Works Fund). Students will need to bring in money to buy goods and to be able to participate in the wide range of activities that Year 6 have planned.
