Years 4 & 6

Wowee! We can't believe that we have passed the half way mark of Term 3 already! The whole school Getting Ready to Learn morning routine has been setting the students up well for a positive start to each day. Thank you to both students and parents for embracing the slightly earlier start.

This week we have begun our next unit in Maths focussing on all things Fractions. We will build on our understanding of counting by fractions, apply knowledge of equivalent fractions and solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions.

In Literacy we are now also half way through our class novel, Dirrarn. The text is providing many great examples of figurative language devices which we have been exploring. These include idioms, similes and personification to name only a few. In our sentence level writing we have been learning all about appositives and adverbial phrases and how to add detail to a sentence. Let's take a peek at some student work examples. I have also included a photo of the year 2 - 6's super focussed on Tuesday when they were practicing their lines for the upcoming musical. A top effort by all.

Finally, well done to everyone who has committed their time to a team sport this winter and all the best to any of our students playing in finals this weekend.
