📚 Book Week 2025 – Book an Adventure! 🌏

St Mary’s Library is already a lively place - from Foundation students colouring, Middle Primaries and Secondaries reading books to Seniors battling it out in chess tournaments...  but it’s about to get even more exciting!

This year’s CBCA Book Week theme is “Book an Adventure!” and we have a whole week of activities planned to get everyone exploring, discovering, and having fun together.

🔍 Library Scavenger Hunt – Wed 20 Aug to Fri 23 Aug

Calling all explorers! We’re running an epic P–12 Library Scavenger Hunt where teams will solve riddles, collect tokens, and decode a literary treasure map. Here’s the twist - each team must include students from different year levels. Imagine a Year 2 reader teaming up with a Year 9 map master and a Year 12 puzzle-solver!

Tip: Start recruiting your crew now so you’re ready to set sail on Wednesday 20 August. Adventure awaits!

🎭 Primary Book Week Dress-Up Parade – Fri 23 Aug, 9am in the Playground

One of our favourite traditions is back! Our Primary students will be parading as their favourite book characters in a spectacular celebration of reading.

This year’s theme is Adventure, so here are a few quick, easy dress-up ideas:

  • Detectives & Spies – trench coat, magnifying glass, notebook

  • Treasure Hunters – bandana, cardboard telescope, stripy shirt

  • Explorers – safari hat, binoculars, backpack

  • Fantasy Adventurers – cape, crown, or cardboard sword

  • Characters from classics – The Magic Faraway Tree, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Percy Jackson, Where’s Wally?

💰 Book Fair Wrap-Up – Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent Book Fair! Together, our school community purchased $4,191.26 worth of books and products. This gave us a 35% return of $1,466.94.

We used $500.00 straight away for books and prizes, leaving a balance of $966.94, which we took as Book Club Rewards (valued at $828.81, rounded to $828.50). That means in total this year we’ll receive $1,328.50 in value from the Book Fair - all of which goes back into building our Library collection and supporting teacher resources.

Your support keeps our shelves full of exciting new reads and our classrooms rich in learning resources - thank you!

So sharpen your pencils, grab your magnifying glasses, and get ready to Book an Adventure with us this August. Stay tuned for posters, clues, and mysterious announcements appearing around the Library soon
