Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope everyone has been thoroughly enjoying the school holidays (and is recovering from the devastating performance of the Pies), we look forward to kicking off Term Four on Monday and welcoming everyone back to Sacred Heart School.
We ended Term Three with a great local excursion to finish a term of learning about History both near and far. Students attended the Man from Snowy River Museum and the Arnold Playle Photographic Exhibition at Davis Cottage. Students were able to extend on their learning about the history of Corryong and surrounds from our learning earlier in the year as part of the 150 years of Corryong celebrations.
This weekend many of our SHS community will be heading to Corryong Show where you will be able to view the creative work of our students in the Art exhibition. Students worked with Miss Lockwood throughout Term Three to get their submissions ready. I know many other students were working on submissions for other exhibitions including Lego and photography too. Best of luck to everyone who has a submission, and I hope a great time to be had by all at the Show!
We have lots of upcoming events in Term Four to look forward to, as well as many great learning opportunities for our students. Please check out the School Calendar page on this newsletter to see upcoming dates for events, including the Year 3/4 camp to Howman's Gap.
In Week Two we will welcome staff from ACER (The Australian Council for Education Research) and CESL (Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd) to conduct our School Improvement Tool (SIT) School Review. This review is an important part of assessing our impact on student learning, identifying areas of strength and areas for us to further develop as a Staff and a Leadership at Sacred Heart School. Part of this three-day review process will include the interviewing of Leadership, Staff, Students and P & C community group members and families at Sacred Heart School. Any parents and carers who are able to give up some of their time on Tuesday the 14th of October at approximately 2.15 pm to meet with the reviewers are asked to get in touch with myself or the school office at the beginning of Week One. By meeting with all members across our SHS community, the reviewers are able to gain a better understanding of Sacred Heart School.
Following the week after, we will have our Catholic Identity review which is conducted by CESL Staff to again measure our impact with a specific focus on Catholic Identity at Sacred Heart School.
Then later on in the term, I will undergo my Summative Principal Appraisal as I enter into the final year of my Principal contract in 2026. Once we receive further information from CESL about this process, I will ask for any members of our community who would be happy to participate in this review process also.
Our Parent & Carer Community group met twice in Term Three to implement the new format, which includes a mixture of Parent & Carer (or P & F) matters as well as School Advisory Council work. Thank you to all in our community who give up their time to participate in these meetings. We are still working to confirm the dates for the Term Four meetings, which I will share as soon as confirmed. Our P & C are again running a Pie Drive after the success of the one earlier in the year. Orders are due at the end of Week One. If you need another order form, please get in touch with the office so we can send another one home with your cherubs.
Looking forward to hearing all the stories about school holiday antics on Monday, not looking forward to seeing a Brisbane supporter in the 2/3/4 classroom though.
~ Justine
