Active Travel to School: Ride & Roll
Thursday 3 April
A wonderful four weeks reached a high today as we celebrated students and parents travelling to school on bikes! Our bike shed was filled to capacity and lots enjoyed walking to school by parking a couple of blocks away. Students were greeted at the gates by members of the Sustainability Team and staff as well as volunteer grandparents! Stickers provided by Banyule Council and created especially for our day were proudly worn on shirts, helmets and even bikes! The crunch of apples were part of the celebration and were purchased with the support of Council and Biviano Direct! It was great to have Councillor Alicia Curry join the efforts!!
Seating Completed This Week
We are thrilled with our new seating that will accompany the resurfacing of the basketball court. The previous seating was proving difficult to repair and make safe. The new seating has already proved popular with students and Physical Education classes.
Cross Country
Monday 31 April
Students in the Year 3 to 6 Learning Area were encouraged to give their best when they participated in the Cross Country at Rosanna Parklands. Every student who had a go and finished were celebrated. Such experiences are important opportunities to encourage an active lifestyle and for students to personally challenge themselves. Thanks to parents who helped with the supervision of the event and ensured the safety of all. Again, thanks to Ms Zealley for an energetic term and start to the year!
Quantum Visits Enjoyed by 456 Learning Area
Quantum is the department’s centre for excellence in the teaching of STEM education. Fortunately, for us it is within walking distance and we have a special relationship that enables the experience to take place without cost!
Over the last week, students in the 456 Learning Area attended Quantum to explore robotics. Engagement went through the roof for students who returned amazed at their achievements in coding.
