Kambala Rec Outing: Spin Class & Yo Chi

On Sunday 23rd March, the Kambala boarders took part in an energetic and rewarding Rec outing—a high-energy spin class, followed by a well-deserved stop at Yo-Chi for frozen yoghurt.

The afternoon kicked off with an intense but fun indoor cycling session, where the girls pushed themselves through fast-paced sprints, resistance climbs, and motivational beats that kept everyone moving. With music pumping and spirits high, the class was not only a great workout but also a fantastic way to build camaraderie and challenge us physically.

After working up a sweat, we cooled down with a visit to Yo-Chi, where the girls got creative with their frozen yoghurt choices, piling on delicious toppings and enjoying a well-earned treat. Laughter and conversation filled the air as everyone reflected on the workout and shared their favourite flavour combinations.

This outing was the perfect blend of fitness, fun, and friendship—a reminder of the importance of staying active while also taking time to enjoy the little things. We look forward to more exciting Rec activities in the coming weeks!

Boarder Birthdays

Happy Birthday to Zara G (Yr 10) and Charlotte L (Yr 7). Both girls enjoyed celebrating their birthday with their friends with cake and singing.

Saturday Sport

Weekend 7:

Touch Semi Finals - Great results from the Touch semi-final! The Senior A team featuring Polly/Poppy/Zanna (Yr 12) won the Pillinger Cup 5-4 to progress to the Grand Final in weekend 8 against St Vincents at Queens Park.

Water Polo - Both Izzy (Yr 8) and Holly (Yr 7) won their water polo matches during weekend 7. Holly was excited to score a goal as well!

Vey (Yr 9) was thrilled to win her singles badminton game.

Weekend 8:

There were several touch final wins this weekend. Lilli (Yr 11), Layla (Yr 10) and Frankie (Yr 11) won their Touch Grand Final 2-2 with Frankie J scoring the winning try right at the end. Charlotte (Yr 11)  & Hilary (Yr 12) also came away with a win in their touch final (7-1) - well done to everyone! Congratulations also to Polly/Zanna & Poppy (Yr 12) for making their Touch grand final. Even though they didn’t take the win they should all be proud of their efforts.

Sonya (Yr 8) won Badminton and is in the grand final next week and Izzy (Yr 8) had a win at Water Polo and also progressed to the final next week. Vey (Yr 9) went through to the final in Badminton on Weekend 9 and we look forward to cheering them on next week.

Zanna (Year 12) also had an exciting weekend participating in a women’s triathlon by the beach.

Festival Of Music 2025

On Sunday night, the girls enjoyed the much-anticipated 2025 Festival of Music at the Sydney Opera House! After practising every lunchtime for weeks, the girls' efforts truly paid off and each house delivered an impressive performance of two choral pieces and an instrumental piece.

From the Boarding House, we were lucky to hear Frankie (Yr 11) play the saxophone in a fantastic jazz performance, while Eve (Yr 10) played the piano beautifully for Hawthorne’s instrumental piece.

The Year 12’s made their last Music Festival truly memorable and as tradition goes, were dressed in their self-decorated sparkly school dresses. Our two Year 12 House Prefects in particular had a successful night; Zanna, House Captain of Roseby, accepted the award for most improved house. Gurney House Captain Polly accepted the award for Spirit, Best Instrumental Piece and overall, first place winner on the night! It was definitely a night of fun for all the boarding girls and a testament of their musical efforts and school spirit.

Year 8- Scots Mixer Evening

The Yr 8’s Charlotte Croker, Isabelle Lo and Sonya Wong enjoyed an evening out in Week 7 at a "mixer" night for students, parents and carers at The Scots College. This was a great way to meet new people and get important details about the upcoming Kambala-Scots Bannockburn Co-Educational Academic Experience.

The experience will focus on using Science, Geography, and Art to connect with the land and develop stewardship. Even though the Yr 8’s were initially uncertain, it was great to see them warm up quickly and feel so welcomed by the staff and students at Scots. They are now looking forward to what will be a valuable and transformative few days at the end of this term.

The evening was topped off by a quick stop at Yo-Chi in Double Bay which is always a crowd favourite.

Where are they now?

My name is Sally Lees, and I graduated from Kambala in 2018. I’m from a cropping property near Barellan NSW where we grow wheat, barley and canola. I started boarding at Kambala in Year 9 and look back on those years boarding as some of the funniest years of my life so far. I still to this day am so grateful I got the opportunity to board at such an amazing school. I’m currently studying to be a Veterinarian at CSU in Wagga Wagga and plan to specialise in large animals when I graduate, particularly breeding programs for livestock and equine medicine. Currently, I work between a Vet clinic in Wagga Wagga and back home on the farm whenever I get some time away from university work. 

My best advice for current boarders would be to listen to people when they tell you “you’ll graduate before you know it”. I always rolled my eyes when people said this to me, but it’s very true. Make the most of living with your friends while you can because you’ll be really missing them soon, and these are the friends that will know and care for you the most. Study hard because it does pay off, but make sure you have some fun throughout!! 

P.S - Make sure you stop and really take in the view every single day you walk to school.

Prep Time!

The A Team tutors continue to support our girls on a Monday and Wednesday night during prep time. The girls are also benefiting from tutoring with our boarding staff members. The Year 10 girls have benefited from having Liz help them with their Macbeth essay preparation as they navigate Shakespeare and look to deepen their critical thinking moving towards the upcoming assessment.
