Pre-Reading: Familiarising themselves with the names of the first letters of their names

Familiarising themselves with the sounds of the first letters of their names 

Learning about the different parts of a book, including front cover, back cover, spine, title and illustrations. Using illustrations to cue the children in to the story that is being told

Reading 'symbols' and 'pictures' of ingredients/food items

Pre-Writing: Strengthening and developing the muscles in their hands through engaging in finger plays, working with playdough, manipulative equipment and threading

Engaging in exercises to build the core strength and to practice crossing the midline

Using pencils, paintbrushes and other tools to develop a pencil grip

STEM :  Exploring life cycles of seed and animals.

Children to begin to identify numbers up to 10 and place them in sequence

Inquiry : All About Me - Consolidate their understanding of a healthy lifestyle, the importance of the need for rest and exercise, and healthy eating habits

Learning about the different parts of the human body and their functions.

Social & emotional learning : Learning conflict resolution skills and beginning to think about others, showing empathy.

Exploring and understanding the Zones of Regulation to identify how we are feeling and implementing strategies we can use to return to the 'green zone'

Turn taking and using patience when playing or enjoying experiences such as the Responsible Pet Visit and Bee Visit
