Principal's Message

Linda Buckeridge: Principal

The end of term one already?!

Thank you so much to everyone - staff, students and our school community for helping Term One 2025 be so successful and positive. Our newest and youngest members of the Hillsmeade family have certainly been on a steep learning curve and it's been a delight to watch them all develop and grow in such a short period of time.

Across the school there has been much to celebrate - sporting events, leadership presentations, charity fundraising, teaching and learning activities and a strong wellbeing focus. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year has to bring!

Casey Student Leader Reception

I was privileged to take our School Captains, Macey and Isaac to the recent Casey Student Leader Reception at Bunjil Place. We were entertained by local performers from JStep and then listened to a wide range of young leaders speak about their journeys as leaders and provide advice to all student leaders in attendance. The event was provided free of charge by the Casey Youth Services team and was an inspiring and thought-provoking experience for all.

Both Isaac and Macey listened carefully, taking copious amounts of notes to help inform them as leaders for 2025. Hillsmeade students sure are in capable hands under their leadership! The day was capped off with a free buffet lunch, which was what many would describe as the highlight of the event!!

School Photos

Photos should have gone home on Tuesday afternoon with students. If you have any queries don't hesitate to contact the office. We changed our photography company this year to SchoolPix and we are very impressed with their timeframes, communication and quality of photos provided. I particularly like their staff photo of our gorgeous wellbeing dog Yoshi! If you have any further feedback please don't hesitate to let us know at the school.

Family Survey

A big thank you to everyone from our community who completed the recent survey. We had approximately 145 responses, enabling quality feedback on what is working well and what we can improve on. We have not seen a response level this high to a family/parent-carer survey in over 3.5 years, so thank you!

We will work through the written strengths and areas for improvement, however please see below for the results of the initial questions that were asked for a rating out of 5.

We were also extremely pleased to see that of all surveyed families, over 90% of students are happy coming to school each day.

Congratulations!

A huge congratulations goes to Lucy 6C and Hurr 5E, who both competed in the Regional Swimming Championship event in Rosebud on Wednesday 2nd April.  Both students competed in two events each with amazing results. A special mention to Lucy who came 2nd in 50m butterfly, a very tricky swim stroke indeed! They represented Hillsmeade so proudly and I am grateful to their families for getting them to this event. A big congrats to all of the Hillsmeade swimmers throughout term one, who competed in school and district events.
