Wellbeing News

Thank you to those parents who were able to take the time out of the busyness of life to attend our parent evening on Tuesday night. We have had nothing but positive feedback from those who attended, and I have included some insights from attendees below. If you were not able to come we highly recommend you listening to the podcasts shared in the last newsletter, and on Audiri and Operoo.
Attending Maria Ruberto's parent workshop on understanding wellbeing was an incredibly insightful and eye-opening experience. She presented practical strategies and clear explanations on why and how these can be implemented. I have never been so engaged and had so many ‘Ah-Ha’ moments in a talk of this nature before.
Such an amazing presentation. Maria is insightful, clever and funny. So many great points to take away and help us be better parents and carers for our little ones.
The parent workshop was engaging and informative. The practical advice and strategies offered are not only achievable, but critical in helping children become more resilient.
A pivotal strategy Maria shared was-
Children do not learn to problem solve when parents / caregivers step in too soon. Allow them to experience challenging situations and then help them by employing the 5:3 rule by Maria Ruberto.
"The 5:3 rule: When your child is distressed, ask them 5 questions about what happened. They can be who, what, where, when, and how do you manage it. But don't ask why, as it invites an emotional story. Let them talk for 3 minutes about the facts without saying anything, then ask them what they might need to do. Allow them to own the problem-solving process."
An excellent evening, Maria was engaging and gave valuable strategies to use with children to help them to become problem solvers to enhance their resilience throughout their life. Maria educated us on the fact that we can’t solve the problem for our child but we can listen and love them.
Just wanted to reach out and thank you for organising Maria to present to our school community. It was a very valuable evening which gave us lots of scientific based information relevant to bringing up children in today’s world. We walked away from the evening committed to wanting to try a few new things in our house. Grateful for the opportunity to listen to Maria.
