WELCOME TO TERM 3
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: LILLY’S LIBRARY BAG PROJECT
The College Resource Library would like to shine a spotlight on Lilly, whose generosity and creativity have made a wonderful difference to our library community.
Last year, Lilly approached us with the thoughtful idea of sewing and donating library bags for students who may need one. Since then, she has continued to develop her sewing skills while remaining committed to supporting our Library and fellow students.
Last week, Lilly delivered another batch of handmade library bags, complete with some fantastic design improvements. We have been incredibly impressed by her ongoing commitment, generosity, and initiative in finding a meaningful way to contribute to our College community and support our library users.
Thank you, Lilly, for your kindness, creativity, and continued dedication! With special thanks to Lilly’s family and the MADEC Program for supporting her wonderful project.
TERM 3 LIBRARY MONITORS
The College Resource Library would like to announce our Term 3 Library Monitors, congratulations to Tessa M, Aria C, Ivy C and Isla C. We look forward to working together with these students this term.
This program is facilitated by library staff and gives students an opportunity at an extracurricular leadership role within the college. Library Monitors are responsible for a range of roles within the library space, including shelving books, keeping the space tidy, assisting with displays, brainstorming new programs with staff, and so much more.
REHEARSAL PROGRAM - GETTING READY FOR BOOK WEEK
Book Week is more than just one week on the calendar—it is a celebration of stories, creativity and imagination. In the lead up to Booktacular 2026, students have been participating in our Book Week Rehearsal Program, a series of weekly library sessions designed to build excitement, deepen understanding and help students connect with this year's CBCA Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories. Through creative writing, author and illustrator studies, musical exploration, the CBCA Book Awards, storytelling activities and our special "What's My Story?" Library Piano project (shared below), students are discovering the many ways stories can be seen, heard and shared. By introducing these concepts ahead of Book Week, we hope every student arrives ready to fully engage with and celebrate the rich world of Australian children's literature.
THE LIBRARY PIANO: "WHAT'S MY STORY?" CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
As part of this year's Booktacular celebrations, students from Prep to Year 12 are invited to enter our "What's My Story?" Creative Writing Competition. Inspired by the arrival of our Library Piano, students are encouraged to imagine the instrument's past, the melodies it has shared and the stories it could tell. Entries will be exhibited in the College Resource Library during Booktacular, with students voting for the most creative story to receive a grand prize. Visit the library to collect an entry form and let your imagination bring the piano's story to life.
