Prep - Yr 2

Belinda, Julie, Gianni, Isabella and Joyce

The Junior school has had a busy fortnight indeed learning to cooperate with each other, collaborate whilst preparing for assembly and communicate how they are feeling in different scenarios, expressing their emotions as they develop and increase their development in emotional literacy.

Playing and co-operating together is a life skill that is imperative to learn and engage in. During Maths and SEL lessons in particular, students have been learning some new games, using their imaginations to make new creations and problem solve together to ensure everyone is included, have a voice and getting along.

All that...is a hard days work right there!!

Religion

Last Friday, the whole school came together wearing their CRAZY SOCKS to donate money for Caritas. It was a very successful day and the students were so excited but more importantly engaged in why we were raising the money. The three pillars of Lent are prayer, almsgiving and fasting. Students have committed to a Lenten promise each and our focus in prayer is to increase our stamina when praying and to pray in a daily circle with our class prayer cloths practising the sign of the cross and to pray for others less fortunate than ourselves.

Crazy sock day for Project Compassion!

1/2 Maths

We have been learning about numbers and the different places/houses (Place value) that they belong to and skip counting.

We have also been learning about how to represent numbers in different ways.

We can ....... write the number,   draw, build the number with blocks (MAB),

write a problem or story about the number and how to write it as an equation

Students may like to talk to you about the placemats they made!

Prep Maths

In Prep, we have been learning about patterns and numbers! We have been sorting familiar objects into groups and creating patterns with these objects.

It is an expectation that students are heard readinevery night for a minimum of 10 minutes please,  reading the take home books in their communication bag (blue pouch).

Please bring this to school every day so that books can be changed, and diary logs checked and signed.

Also, on library day, students can take one book home for parents to "read to" them and they will need their communication bag to house this in please.
