Reuben Smith Medals Again

Wins 3 Silver at National Track Cycling Championships in Queensland.

Massive congratulations again to Year 12 Reuben Smith who has just won 3 Silver Medals at the AusCycling National Track Cycling Championships.

This event was held between the 1st- 5th of March at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Chandler, Queensland, just a fortnight after the Oceania Championships in New Zealand where we recently reported Reuben also won multiple medals.

Racing in the Junior Men (Under 19) Division, Reuben picked up his 1st Silver in the Sprint, an individual event over 750m (3 laps), behind a South Australia rider, and in front a rider from New South Wales.

He then teamed up with two other Victoria riders to take Silver in the Team Sprint (also 750m) again behind South Australia and ahead of NSW.

His 3rd Silver Medal came in another individual event - the prestigious 1000m Time Trial, raced over 4 laps. The only Victorian to make the Final, he finished with a time of 1:04.849.

Well done again Reuben. Everyone is proud of you, and I'm sure there are many junior W.H.S students looking at these pictures and getting inspired by you.
