Reuben Smith Wins 2 Medals at International Meet in New Zealand

Congratulations to Year 12 boy Reuben Smith, who last week won 2 medals at the Oceania Track Cycling Championships in New Zealand.

This was an International meet made up of the best cyclists from the 12 Oceania countries - Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands & Tahiti. 

 

It was held at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome in Cambridge, New Zealand between February 14th -18th.

 

On Day 3, Reuben was part of an Under 19 "Australia Composite" team that won the Silver Medal in the Junior Mens Team Sprint. 

 

On Day 5, he then won the Bronze Medal in the Junior Mens Keirin individual event.

He also qualified 4th fastest in the 1000m Time Trial, taking a second off his Personal Best.

 

Well done Reuben on a tremendous achievement at your first International Cycling event. You are a mighty role model for our youngsters, and the whole school community is extremely proud of you.
