Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy

Department of Education Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy.

Please read below information about the Department of Education’s policy.

In 2023 the Department of Education launched its Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy. It outlines the shared roles that members of the community have in creating a positive learning environment.

When parents, carers and school staff work together as one team, our students do better.

When this relationship is built on respect and trust, students learn better and feel like they belong in the school. Every member of our school community has a right to feel safe and be protected.

All school staff have a right to feel safe at work. Aggression, violence or any behaviour that makes staff feel unsafe, are not acceptable in our schools.

The department’s Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities.

It's important that adults in our school community continue to treat each other with kindness and respect.

The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults. The policy also outlines processes that can be taken if Respectful Behaviours are not engaged in.

Safe and respectful school communities create a better environment for children to thrive.

The policy covers respectful behaviour within all parts of the school grounds, with all staff members, as well as online.

You may also see a new poster up around our school, promoting positive behaviour.
