Year 1 & 2

Around our level

For Writing lessons, students have been learning how to structure a narrative piece of writing. They have been given a picture as a prompt to create their own story about. Students have also written a reflection about Crazy Hair Day and drawn a picture to accompany their writing for their Memory Books.

This past fortnight in Maths, we have continued to focus on addition. We have learnt new games such as the Mouse, the Cat and the Cheese, Jetski Addition and used dominoes to show doubles and near doubles facts.

Students have been continuing to learn about their personal history in History lessons. They have designed houses to look like their own house and written sentences about their personal history including who they live with and what suburb they live in. They have started to consider their family history and learn if a parent or grandparent was born outside of Australia.

Here are some of our thoughts about Crazy Hair Day:

1/2A

Jakob: On Crazy Hair Day, I did my hair spiky. My brother was scared and he ran away! I went to school and I felt crazy!

Harvey: I woke up, got dressed and spray my hair. When I got to school, there were so many tricks. I was surprised to see everyone’s hair.

Ella: I woke up at 6am, I got dressed and did my crazy hair. I felt really silly and funny!

Maddie: On Crazy Hair day, I woke up in the morning and my mum did my hair. She sprayed it. I felt excited!

1/2B

Logan: My hair was pink and purple. They put sparkles in it.

Clementine: Some people decorated their hair and it looked colourful!

Henry: I have a mohawk and on the sides it is rainbow!

Harrison: Today it was Crazy Hair Day and I had blue hair with an orca on it!

1/2C

Archer: Today is Crazy Hair Day and I have blue and red glitter in my hair.

Lulu: I had bows in my hair.

Mei: I had a balloon in my hair.

Clarke: I had blue dye in my hair.

Oviya: I just forgot it was Crazy Hair Day so I just shook my hair. It’s crazy now!

Ruhani: I have Holi in my hair. I also have braids and clips in my hair.

William: Today is Crazy Hair Day. A lot of people have colourful hair but my hair is just normal because I like it this way!
