In the Art Room...
Last term, I eluded to a surprise in the Art room and it has arrived… in the form of a cow! SURPRISE!
A little while ago I registered our school for the Picasso Cow program.
I am pleased to announce that St Simon’s now own a cow! Yes, you read that correctly. A cow!
It may not be a real cow but it is almost REAL-LIFE SIZE and has already caused a bit of a stir with students who have spotted it sitting in a temporary corner of the art room.
‘Picasso Cows’ is a FREE curriculum program designed to educate primary school children about the Australian dairy industry and the health and nutrition benefits of dairy foods as part of a balanced diet.
Watch this video link for a brief summary of what the project will entail and how the cow will come in to play with the program.
For the moment, the cow will remain in the Art room with the intention of mooooooving it to a more suitable and permanent home in our playground once it has been completely painted.
At this point, the program will be accessed by the Year 4 level as it works in well to their Semester One units of work. The Grade 6 Art and Environmental leaders will also take part in the project along with my guidance.
Stay tuned for regular updates on our progression.
In the meantime….
ALL students and families are welcome to enter our ‘NAME OUR COW’ Competition! We will have a marked container at the front office where you will be free to hand in your suggestions until 9th MAY, 2024. Slips can be collected from the front office or the Art room or feel free to print, cut and return the one below. You may enter as many times as you like!
The winner of the competition will then be announced at a future school assembly. Prizes to be won!
Thank you,
