Leadership Day Success: A Tri-School Collaboration

Creating Futures Together

We were delighted to welcome student leaders from Forest Hill College and Wellington Secondary College to our campus for an engaging and productive Student Leadership Day. The event was a melting pot of ideas, strategies, and shared experiences, offering everyone the opportunity to delve into the nuances of student leadership and school processes.

The day kicked off with introductions and icebreakers, setting a friendly and collaborative tone. Leaders from each school, including our very own, shared their unique leadership structures and processes. A highlight was Forest Hill College's presentation on their revamped Tribes system, an innovative take on the traditional house system, sparking discussions on enhancing school spirit and participation.

Our LEAP Team, expertly led by Kim Pillig and supported by Aiden Carmichael, Chloe Burley, Milan Stevanovic, Amy Parsons, and Lara Williams, conducted a thought-provoking session. Students engaged in activities rating classroom scenarios based on their impact on learning, followed by discussions on how student voice could drive positive change, fostering more engaging and effective learning environments.

Wellington Secondary College took the reins in the latter part of the day, guiding us through a goal-setting workshop. This session not only helped us in crafting actionable and realistic goals but also set the stage for ongoing collaboration, as we plan to track and share our progress online, culminating in our next meet-up at WSC in the upcoming term.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Gill for his meticulous organization of the day and Ms. Ford for her invaluable assistance in the morning session. Their efforts were instrumental in the day's success and in facilitating a memorable experience for all involved.

The insights and connections gained from this Leadership Day have enriched us all, reaffirming our commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration. We eagerly anticipate our next gathering at WSC, where we will further our journey, reflect on our achievements, and continue building our leadership legacy.
