STEM

Did you decode the Block and JavaScript programs above from last issue? The first will draw a square 🔲 and the second will draw a star ⭐︎. Our clever seniors also looked at coding programs to get the Sphero BOLTs to respond to Events this fortnight. By adding a condition that IF the BOLT collided with an object, it would "beep", change colour, turn around and head in the other direction. Much like the world wide sensation of Pong, from the 1970's. (Decades before all of our times I'm sure 😉)

Our junior and middle school students have taken a rest from technology this week, and instead have been focussing solely on the task of making a witch fly... They built cable cars to help her get down from her tower, after Rapunzel ran off to marry the Prince and left her all alone. We don't judge a person/character on their previous actions. Everyone should have access to engineering design assistance.

In Foundation we have been continuing to look at the role of a Civil Engineer by building roads to connect services and people in a town. We also looked at some different types of bridges and their uses for transporting vehicles and pedestrians across rivers. The students have embraced the design challenges and LOVED roleplaying the different community members, while testing their builds.
