From the Art Room...

Still life drawing for our Year 1/2

Our clever year 1/2 students have been focusing on drawing from observation with a still life drawing. We looked at the beautifully textured work of impressionist artist Paul Cezanne and practiced creating layers of colours with oil pastels. More importantly we discussed how drawing what we see can be more challenging than drawing from our imaginations. All the students did a wonderful job of patiently looking at the bowls of fruit in front of them and using the tricks they learnt on how to show form in a drawing. The works below are just a sample of their interesting pieces. We hope to display more at our school art show in term 3.
