Student Centred – Learning Focused – Wellbeing Driven

Wellbeing Programs and Activities

This term the wellbeing team has continued to deliver various exciting and inclusive programs around the school. The programs and acitivities that we offer aim to increase feelings of belonging and provide a space for a range of different students to be themselves and have fun.

Mindful Minds Group - Thursday Recess

Our mindfulness group is run by our Student Support Officers (SSO's) who are trained in Social Work. This group offers students an opportunity to reduce stress and learn how to be mindful in their life. We practice different mindfulness techniques including breathing and gratitude. This group offers a calm space for students to un-wind and alleviate feelings of anxiety and overwhelm.

Rainbow Club - Wednesday Lunch

Rainbow Club is also run by our SSO's. During this group we complete acivities and crafts that celebrate pride. This provides a space for students to be who they are and celebrate diversity. This group aims at increasing belonging and providing a safe space for our LGBTQIA students and allies to be.

Pasifika Cultural Group - Monday Lunch                                                                               Friday Recess

The Pasifika Cultural Group is run by SLSO Phoenix. This group offers students an opportunity to connect to their culture and learn about others. Through the group, students will complete cultural activities and learn about Pasifika culture. This group is a great chance for students to connect to their own culture and create relationships with other students who share similar interests.

Break Time Volleyball

Learning and Support Teacher Mrs Leeson invites students to the MPC to play Volleyball twice a week. We currently have about 30 students who come together to play in pickup games. It is great to see such a diverse group of students playing together, developing new friendships and getting some exercise during breaks.

Listen to the daily notices to see what day volleyball is running each week.

The program aims to equip young people with self-efficacy and cognitive behavioural skills to help them cope with the numerous developmental challenges that adolescents face, such as academic stress, peer pressure, and identity development. SSO Kate has organised for a facilitator to come in to the school and present this program for 2 small groups.
