‘History is all explained by Geography’ – Robert Penn Warren

Welcome to the Term 2 edition of our HSIE (Human Society and Its Environment) newsletter! As we embark on another exciting chapter of our academic journey, this newsletter serves as inspiration, guiding us through the diverse realms of history, geography, and social sciences. From unravelling the mysteries of ancient civilizations to exploring the intricacies of contemporary global issues.

Year 8 History

In Year 8 history, students embarked on an immersive journey through the sands of time to explore the captivating world of Ancient Egypt, delving into the profound significance of the afterlife while engaging in a hands-on practical activity that brings history to life - mummifying their classmates this term.

Year 11 Society and Culture

Year 11 Society and Culture students recently went on a guided tour through Sydney's Chinatown to experience new and exciting cultures. What better way to do this than through food? Students got to try dumplings and traditional hand pulled noodles, participate in a tea ceremony, and indulge in a different kind of KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Safe to say we all left feeling very full!

Year 12 Work Studies

In a remarkable display of entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropy, Year 12 Work Studies students organized a Wear a Pink Accessory day, raising an impressive $219.45 in support of the Australian Breast Cancer Foundation, demonstrating their commitment to making a tangible difference in the fight against breast cancer.

As we bid farewell to another enriching term of exploration and discovery in HSIE, let's carry the wisdom gained forward, igniting curiosity, and fostering empathy as we navigate the complexities of our ever-changing world.
