Assistant Principal's Report

This week’s e-safe topic: The Australian eSafety Commissioner

Do you know about the Australian eSafety Commisioner website? The Australian eSafety Commissioner has been in the media this past week, playing a key role in violent images on X story. The eSafety website is a comprehensive resource and contains high quality, information, support and advice for the community, including schools and families. There is a page designed specifically for parents/carers. It includes 'digital world information' relating to little kids and teens. I encourage you to save this webpage in your favourites: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents

92nd ANZAC Commemorative Ceremony for Students at the Shrine of Remembrance

On Friday, 19th of April, as School Captains and Vice Captains, Pearl T, Hadley G, Charlie N, Evie P travelled with Mr Parkes in his car down to Melbourne. It took us about two hours, then finally, at roughly 10:30am, we came to the city!

Soon, we arrived at the Shrine of Remembrance to learn about the tragedy of war and how it affected our nation. At our seats we listened to many guest speakers including; the youth ambassador of public speaking for 2024 and her excellency, Governor Margaret Gardner. We also listened to the Last Post and did a minute of silence as part of the ceremony. We learnt in WW1 that over 16 million people died overall and that the Shrine of Remembrance was built on the 11th of November 1934, 16 years after World War One, to remember all those lost in the tragedy of war. During the ceremony, Hadley and Pearl placed a wreath in front of the Eternal Flame. We learnt that The Flame never dies and is to show that the memory within us will always burn on.

Soon after the ceremony, the five of us went into the Shrine and explored the history of war. We also went up to the top balcony. (What a beautiful view!) In addition, we saw thousands of medals which represented 1000+ people who served in the war.

Then, finally we set off in the car (with our deeeelicous chocolate milkshakes!) and listened to WAY too many Swifty songs. (Only according to the boys that is…)
