Spread Some Love: The Power of Kindness Takes Centre Stage!"

This year, we are continuing to strive to create a positive and supportive environment for our students. One way in which we are working towards this goal is by promoting kindness in all its forms.

Studies have shown that spreading kindness can have a ripple effect, increasing happiness and well-being not only in the recipient but also in the giver. Recent research has shown that acts of kindness can have a significant impact on our brain and mental health and there is a direct link between positivity and improved educational outcomes. When we perform acts of kindness, our brain releases oxytocin, a hormone commonly referred to as the "feel-good hormone." This release of oxytocin leads to an increase in happiness and a decrease in stress and anxiety.

In addition to its impact on our mental health, kindness has been shown to improve our physical health as well. When we engage in acts of kindness, our blood pressure lowers, our immune system functions better, and we experience a reduction in chronic pain.

This is why we will be placing an emphasis on encouraging acts of kindness within our school community.

Actions such as giving someone a compliment, helping someone with something or even just saying thanks can strengthen bonds and create a sense of community within the school. This will also have an increase in overall positivity and a decrease in instances of or negative peer interactions.

We would also like to remind students that if they are experiencing conflict there are many qualified adults in our school who are available to help them navigate this. We expect students to seek support from an adult rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Positivity is powerful and we want our school to be a fun and safe place where everyone can be themselves to ensure that all students can connect, succeed and thrive. We encourage families to promote these values at home and in the community. Together, we can make the world a kinder and more compassionate place.
